D&H CANADA OFFERS "MESH" WIFI SOLUTIONS FOR THE WORKPLACE AND HOME

— Cutting-edge WiFi Distribution Solutions Accommodate Consistent Performance for More Seamless, Flexible, and Collaborative Small Business and Home Wireless Environments —

HARRISBURG, PA - February 15, 2018 - D&H Canada, a major provider of SMB and consumer technologies to the North American high-tech channel, wants its resellers and dealers to take advantage of powerful “mesh” computing solutions. These offerings are making their way from the enterprise to SMB office and connected home environments in the form of affordable, easy-to-install solutions.

D&H sees mesh computing solutions as a platform by which users can manage the growing ecosystem of IoT devices such as automated lighting, thermostats, and appliances. This will allow solution providers to offer a more manageable connected home/digital office solution, expanding their core competencies and creating opportunities for additional revenues.

Mesh computing technologies feature a series of access points, or hubs, that distribute and balance a network’s WiFi signal throughout a facility, including a small business or home. These systems reduce connectivity “dead spots,” allowing the network to perform more seamlessly. Mesh computing products accommodate the roster of wireless and IP-based devices associated with an increasingly more sophisticated small business workplace--even across multiple floors of a single building.

In the SMB community, many regional offices have been forced to locate equipment and workstations within a certain proximity of their WiFi routers to ensure consistent connectivity. Yet today’s modern workplace involves workers who depend on a plethora of wireless devices, ranging from Bluetooth headsets, to tablets and smart phones, to portable speakerphones and high-performance notebook computers. In addition, bandwidth-heavy amenities such as IP surveillance systems or cloud-based storage and printing services create additional demands on bandwidth.

The same office spaces often feature open floor plans and ad-hoc conference areas that can be set up on-the-fly, to encourage collaboration between personnel. SMB mesh computing solutions support this trend, allowing workers to take advantage of the collaborative communication these new open-office footprints were designed to inspire.

For example, D&H carries the HPE OfficeConnect OC20 802.11ac, which can cluster up to eight access points. It’s a powerful yet cost-effective wireless solution that’s easy to set up and administer without significant technical expertise, allowing SMB companies to deploy robust and flexible WiFi of their own accord. The system is installed via a no-cost, straightforward mobile application that can be deployed in minutes, either via cell phone using an Android or iOS app, or through a cloud-based portal. Both the app and the web-based portal also facilitate easy remote network monitoring for the reseller.

The HPE OfficeConnect OC20 allows the business owner to conduct Internet filtering, regulating what sites employees may access and/or restricting adult content. And the solution’s simple remote management capability creates incremental managed services revenue opportunities.

In addition, D&H offers the popular Cisco Meraki family of wireless access solutions, which incorporates cloud-managed mesh networking into its wireless access points. The Meraki products extend WiFi coverage to hard-to-wire areas and supports resilient, high-performance routing across facilities. These access points “self-configure” to automatically establish a robust and resilient network, without manual intervention or provisioning from the reseller. The Meraki solutions offer a cloud-based controller interface that can be managed from anyplace with Internet access, and similarly offers an Android or iOS app for administration.

For the connected home, consumers have been looking for ways to manage the influx of smart devices that have launched in the marketplace. These mesh products offer automated and remote-access control over WiFi-enabled household equipment ranging from locks, alarms, and thermostats to full-scale major appliances. Home mesh solutions allow homeowners to administer a more seamless and manageable home automation experience.

D&H Canada offers mesh computing solutions for the connected home including the Linksys VELOP Whole Home Mesh WiFi solution; the NETGEAR Orbi home WiFi system; the Ubiquiti UniFi indoor-outdoor mesh computing solution; and the Ubiquiti AmpliFi Whole-Home WiFi system. These solutions balance bandwidth with pod-like antennas that can be mounted in different areas of the house.

“WiFi demands in the modern office and the sophisticated, connected home continue to expand as users depend on a series of wireless apparatus and mobile computing solutions,” said Greg Tobin, general manager at D&H Canada. “The market has begun to satisfy to these environments with reliable, high-performance, yet cost-effective WiFi distribution products. Mesh computing is finally bringing unified and seamless connectivity to these smaller environments, simultaneously creating opportunities for solution providers and retailers.”
